James is a graduate from Georgetown University’s School of Business Administration in Washington, DC. 
He has a BS Degree, Major in Finance. 

He began his insurance career in 1979 as a Field Representative for CNA as a liaison to a group of Independent Agents in Central Florida. 

He joined J. B. Schaftel Company in 1981, which was founded by his grandfather, the late Joseph B. Schaftel in 1933 in Baltimore City, MD.,  as a Property/Casualty agent specializing in Personal and Commercial Insurance needs of individuals and businesses including Transportation Companies, Retail Stores, Wholesale Distributors, Real Estate Developers, Manufacturers’, Trade Contractors, Non-Profits and information Technology Companies, among others.

The agency was sold in 1993 to out of state interests. James repurchased his Book of Business, and relocated with his clients to better serve their needs to Insurance Incorporated, where he has dedicated himself to protecting the assets and servicing their insurance and risk management needs. His hard work and dedication to putting client’s interests ahead of the carrier’s or the agency has enabled him to earn his clients’ trust and confidence year after year.
